About Us Nowruz Foundation is a 501c3 educational-charitable foundation with the mission to promote Iranian celebrations as acts of civil disobedience. It is the belief of the Nowruz Foundation that the ancient Iranian cultural celebrations of nonviolence, peace, kindness, compassion and forgiveness which reach their pinnacle with start of spring on Nowruz and are practiced by Iranians of all ages, ethnicities and religions can be effective acts of civil disobedience which Iranians can use to advance their desire for democracy and nonviolence. It is our belief that cultural Iranian celebrations such as Yalda (December 21st), Souri (Evening before last Wednesday of winter) and Sizdeh-Bedar (thirteenth day of spring) still widely practiced by Iranians worldwide carry the same message of nonviolence, kindness, and charity as Nowruz. It is also the belief of Nowruz Foundation that other celebrations not tolerated by the Islamic Republic such as Mehregan (16th day of autumn) and Sadeh (40th night of winter) are also celebrations with the same philosophy and spirit of nonviolence as Nowruz and can become effective acts of civil disobedience for democracy. In addition, it is our belief that forgotten monthly Iranian cultural celebrations such as Ordibeheshtgan, Tirgan, Amordadgan etc. can each be revived using the same philosophy and spirit of nonviolence in Nowruz and each can become a nonviolent instrument for democracy available to those advocating a free and democratic Iran.

در باره ما بنیاد نوروز، مطابق کد 501c3 قوانین آمریکا، نهادی آموزشی - غیرانتفاعی است که به قصد ترویج جشنهای ایرانی به عنوان ابزاری برای نافرمانی مدنی دائر شده است. بنیاد نوروز بر این باور است که جشن های فرهنگی ی کهن ایرانی حامل پیام خشونت پرهیزی، صلح، مهربانی و بخشش می باشند که با آغاز فصل بهار در جشن نوروز به اوج خود می رسند. این جشن ها که توسط تمام ایرانی ها با هر سن و قوم و مذهبی برگزار می شوند، می توانند ابزاری برای نا فرمانی مدنی باشند و از این طریق ایرانیان خواهند توانست برای پیشبرد اهداف و رسیدن به مردمسالاری و خشونت پرهیزی، این جشنها را بکار ببرند. ما معتقدیم که مراسم فرهنگی ایرانی مانند یلدا (اولین شب زمستان)، سوری (شب ماقبل آخرین چهارشنبه زمستان) و سیزده بدر (سیزدهمین روز بهار)، که هنوز توسط ایرانیان سراسر جهان، بطور گسترده ای برگزار می شوند، حامل همان پیام، خشونت پرهیزی، مهربانی وانسانیت است که در نوروز نهفته است. بیش از این ، بنیاد نوروز باور دارد که برگزاری سایر جشن های ایرانی مثل مهرگان (شانزدهمین روز پائیز) و سده (چهلمین شب از زمستان) که در نظام جمهوری اسلامی قابل تحمل نیستند نیز حامل همان روح و فلسفه خشونت پرهیزی درنوروزاند و میتوانند به عنوان ابزاری برای نا فرمانی مدنی استفاده شوند. افزون بر آن ما معتقدیم که هریک از دیگر جشن های فراموش شده فرهنگ ایرانی همچون خردادگان، تیرگان، اَمردادگان و غیره... می توانند احیاء کننده همان فلسفه و روح خشونت پرهیزی باشند که نوروز در خود دارد. و برگزاری هرکدام از این جشنها برای رسیدن به مردمسالاری در حکم ابزاری خشونت پرهیزاند و می توانند در دسترس کسانی باشند که حامی ی ایرانی مردمسالار، سکولار و آزاد هستند.
